Bacardi is best known as a producer of rums. In the 1830′s rum was cheaply made and not considered a refined drink and Facundo Bacardi began experimenting with techniques to enhance the drink. His charcoal filtering technique removed impurities and oak barrel aging mellowed the rum’s bite.
